It is recommended that people with diabetes or that are pre-diabetic/borderline diabetic, have annual diabetes foot assessments.
Annual foot assessments involve:
- Neurological testing to determine nerve function in your feet.
- Vascular testing with ultrasound to determine blood flow to your feet.
- Assessment of overall foot health.
- Footwear suitability.
This enables us to determine your risk factors for complications of diabetes including lack of protective sensation, delayed healing, pre-ulceration, ulcers/wounds and amputation. Prevention is always better than cure! We will advise you on recommended daily foot care and suitable footwear.
For wound care, we can work closely with your GP or nurse to enhance your wound care and hopefully speed up the process. We are qualified in wound debridement.
